Information Literacy for Speech-Language Pathologists
I found an interesting article, published in Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools entitled, "Information Literacy for Speech-Language Pathologists: A Key to Evidence-Based Practice" (July 2006). You can view an abstract here. The article discusses how the requirements of evidence-based practice mesh (or don't mesh) with information literacy. Written from the practicioner's point of view rather than the librarian's, it provides a number of specific search strategies and discusses why or why not they're effective. I definitely will be referring to it the next time I teach the speech path students, and in fact, most of the health care students.
