Copyright and electronic reserves
If you'd like to 'brush up' your knowledge of copyright, I can recommend a helpful, online (free) primer on copyright issues just published by the American Association of University Presses and some other professional organizations. They've also compiled a helpful web site, Copyright Resources, with links to basic copyright info, online copyright tutorials, copyright websites and articles, and intellectual property info (copyright, trademark, and patent).Copyright can be a concern when it comes to reserve readings. However, did you know that you can use articles from many of our electronic databases, linking to them either through our Course Reserve module in our catalog, PILOT, or through BlackBoard, for your reserve readings? Linking to our databases for electronic reserves is fast and easy, and it obviates the need to get permission from the publisher since the Library has paid for access. (We're linking, not making a copy.)
Contact Lori Osborne, Reserves Coordinator, x4220, losborne@bloomu.edu, or me for more information or assistance.
